Hello puzzle lovers. Here’s an author blog update for you:
It’s been about a month and a half since I delivered my very official New Year briefing. I feel duty-bound to report back from the field.
You may have noticed that “lighter than usual” turned out to mean… noticeably lighter.
This was not a disappearance. It was a strategic reallocation of resources.
The non-fiction project I mentioned in January has demanded sustained attention. The memoir and analysis of disaster relief aid have required it. Research piles have multiplied. Notes have taken over horizontal surfaces. Coffee consumption has escalated to levels I would normally classify as evidence.
This is serious work. Reflective work. The kind that does not respond well to being rushed between interrogations and clever asides.
So here is the honest update:
The winter writing stretch is still very much underway.
You’ll continue to see occasional pop-in updates rather than weekly briefings. Think of it as a long stakeout — quiet, focused, purposeful. The regular rhythm is still expected to return around April, just as previously forecasted. Detectives appreciate a good timeline.
In the meantime, if you find yourself missing the usual chaos, the archives remain open.
Pairs, Mishaps, Wrecks & Critters is still causing trouble.
Tremor in the Hills remains available for those who enjoy earthquakes with their mysteries.
And yes, more Crack the Case books are planned for 2027.
Fewer notes, but not radio silence. That remains the policy.
Thank you for sticking around while the long-form investigation takes center stage. Some stories require patience. Some require distance. And some insist on being told properly.
I’ll be back with more regular dispatches soon enough.
Until then, keep your evidence organized and your curiosity intact.
