🖋️ From the Desk of Ned: Blood Pool Drying Time 🕵️♂️🩸💧
I seem to have stumbled into the rubble of another time and another place. This has nothing to do with space, my friends. You’d never find me on a spaceship. I prefer to stay within the good old atmosphere of the beautiful blue marble called Earth. Well, sometimes it isn’t so beautiful.
🧭 Where Did Ned Go? To the Crime Scene!
Bob didn’t come with me this week. He would have loved to have talked my ear off about blood pool drying time and climate conditions. My puppeteer… I am a fictional character after all… My puppeteer Cristina has finally redone her oldie but goodie, Tremor in the Hills. I’ve been transported back to 2007, into the adobe dust of old. However, I bet he’d be happy to analyze the blood spatter surrounding our first murder victim.
📚 Vocabulary for Everything
The terminology of a crime scene is innumerable. I’m thinking specifically about the word pool. Most of us associate it with summer fun in the sun. In Florida, we mostly think of it as a hassle. It often means, “What a pain — I have to clean my pool out again.” There is a silver lining though. We might be floating on one of the many pool floats under our replace-every-year-after-a-hurricane lanai screens.
Anyway, you’re also familiar with a pool of blood. The pool of blood our murder victim was lying in when they found him was tacky. Almost wet. Glossy and dark against the almost white tile floor. No dry, flaky crust like the pool might have formed in different conditions. The coast of Peru is often almost at 100% humidity, and the air can get cool.
💨 I’ve got to get out of here. Humid air mixed with dust from all the adobe structures that fell is bad for my lungs.
🕵️ Until next time, fellow mystery enthusiasts!

🔍 Crime Scene Tech Tip:
Pool – Blood collects in a level and undisturbed place. Approximate drying time is related to the environmental condition of the scene, surface, and location of injury.
